Abstract

결론
1. 총 1004예중 Class Ⅰ이 483예(43.1%)로 가장 많았으며 Class Ⅱ가 409예(40.7％),
Class Ⅲ가 112예(11.2%)의 순이었다.
2. 15, 16세에 비해 17세 이상에서 Class Ⅰ에 해당하는 예가 증가 되었음을 알 수 있었
고, Class Ⅱ는 나이가 증가함에 따라 감소 경향을 보였다.
3. Gregory의 분류에 의한 성별분포를 보았을 때 남녀간 큰 차이는 없었으며 남녀 모두
Class Ⅰ, Class Ⅱ, Class Ⅲ의 순이었으며 Class Ⅰ 과 Ⅲ는 여성이, Class Ⅱ는 남성이 약
간 많은 결과를 보였다.
4. Class Ⅰ, Ⅱ, Ⅲ 모든 경우에서 근심경사위가 가장 많이 존재하였고 수직위, 수평위,
원심경사위의 순이었다. Class Ⅲ에서는 Class Ⅰ과 Ⅱ에서 볼 수 없는 원심경사위의 예가
관찰되었다. 수평위 중 65.9％가 지치의 맹출공간이 적은 Class Ⅱ, Ⅲ에서 나타났으며 수직
위는 Class Ⅰ 에서 53.4％ Class Ⅱ 에서 46.6%로 Class I 에서 약간 많은 경우를 보였다.
5. Winter의 분류에 의한 성별분포를 보면 남녀 모두에서 근심경사위의 예가 가장 많았
고, 수직위, 수평위의 순이었다. 근심경사위, 수평위, 수직위, 원심경사위 모두에서 남녀간의
큰 차이점은 없었다.
6. Winter의 분류에 의한 연령별 분포를 보면 모든 연령층에서 근심경사위, 수직위, 수평
위, 원심경사위의 순이었고 연령에 따른 큰 차이점은 보이지 않았다.

One of the most common operations which gave been performed on young adults may
be the extraction of third molars. And then, we can meet many reports on third molars
which were studied by lots of specialists. Many domestic reports which dealt with
pathologic condition, impaction, eruption and angulation state of third molars have
already been reported.
The author reported the statistical survey on mandibular third molars of Korean
through dental radiography in 1963.
Until now, the extraction of third molars may be one of the most common operation
which were done at the department of oral & maxillofacial surgery in dental hospital.
But, the more we can see certain diseases easily, the more we can neglect to study on
it. So now, it's true that we cannot meet the reports about the third molars.
The author performed the clinical study on the eruption stated of mandibular third
molars of Korean and compared with the results in 34 years ago.
Following results were obtained
1. It was found that the largest number was Class Ⅰ (483 cases) among the total
1004 cases in the relation of the tooth to the ramus of the mandible and second molar.
2. In Class Ⅰ, the number of cases was increased in more than 17-year-old age. In
Class Ⅱ, the number of the cases was decreased as it grows older.
3. It was found that sex distributions were equal in the classification of Gregory. And
the larges case number was Class Ⅰ in both of male and female.
4. The mesio-angular position in all cases was the largest number. Among class Ⅰ,
Ⅱ, and Ⅲ was the only group that distoangular position was found.
Horizontal positions were found in Class Ⅱ, Ⅲ more than in Class Ⅰ.
Vertical positions were found in Class Ⅰ more than in Class Ⅱ.
5. In Winter's classification, the largest case number was the meio-angular position in
both of male and female and sex distributions were equal in all positions.
6. In Winter's classification, the largest case number was the mesio-angular position
in all ages.
